Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Harvest and Provision

Many fruits and vegetables grown in Canada are ready for harvest in the fall. Let’s hope for a bountiful fall harvest. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular local fruits and veggies this season. Cranberry sauce is a staple in many households on Thanksgiving. Cranberries are primarily produced in North America. While the state of Wisconsin is the world’s largest producer, Quebec is the leading producer of cranberries in Canada. In 2022, farmers in Canada reported harvesting 17,790 acres of cranberries.

This is harvest season here in Canada. The farmers where I live are busy in the fields, bringing in the first of the ripe crops. Months of hard work, planting, fertilizing, watering, and praying for enough sunshine and heat is finally paying off with a rich harvest. This has been how life has worked for millennia and will until the Kingdom is established in its fullness. Which is why the idea of harvest and provision is a central principle of the Kingdom of God. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” As we live our lives for Jesus, in obedience to the Great Commission to take the Gospel to the world, and the Great Commandment to love God and others, we have the assurance that there is a great harvest coming. Men and women will respond to Jesus’ love through us, giving their lives to Him. We may not see a harvest yet – don’t be concerned – here is the promise that there will be one if we keep on pressing on, not giving up.
