"For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!" Isaiah 64:4 (NLT)
I am often asked what makes the Christian faith unique. C.S. Lewis once answered that question with one word – grace.
This is completely true. In every other faith system, there is a demand for some kind of human action: good works, self-denial, self-debasement or physical suffering. The Christian faith teaches that Jesus accomplished all these things on our behalf – out of total love. We appropriate God’s favour and redemption simply by repentance and faith.
We often think of this as a New Testament principle, but centuries before Jesus stepped into this world, the prophet wrote this in Isaiah 64:4. The world is filled with man-made religions, filled with millions of human-created gods, all of whom demand something in order to try to win their favour. But the one True God, has done all that is necessary for us to come to Him.
Jesus, by His death and resurrection, has provided the way to eternal life. Have you reached out to Him in faith to receive that gift?
