And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
All Sufficiency
Canada already has high food self-reliance. Some 70 per cent of the food we consume in Canada is produced within Canada, but over 50 per cent of what we produce is exported. We are self-sufficient in dairy under supply management, and we have more livestock than we can process and absorb in our domestic market. We are, however, reliant on imports of many fresh fruits and vegetables. Food self-reliance remains a strategy to address a perceived risk rather than a realized problem.

If you spend any time on social media, you will quickly run across the post-modern atheist who complains vociferously about the God he says he doesn’t believe exists. I always find this interesting – my mind never goes to something I don’t believe in. One of their loudest complaints is that God doesn’t care about those who are hurting and hopeless. “Where is your God,” they say, “when this disaster took place?” Well, this is where we come in – we being those who love Him and have met Him through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul writes this in 2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” It shouldn’t surprise us that Christian ministries are usually the first on the ground when a disaster takes place. It shouldn’t surprise us that so many Christians are fostering and adopting the most challenging children. We are the Body of Christ – His hands, feet and heart responding to the worst the world can bring. God will always provide all we need to love others.
These have been words from the heart.
