Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you.
1 Thessalonians 3:11 NIV
God Directs
A report on the Yahoo.com website back in 2016 tells us that you can’t always fully trust the directions your vehicle’s navigation system is giving you. At the time, a Canadian woman driving in the midst of a rainstorm, with thick accompanying fog causing low visibility, followed her GPS’s driving directions right into the middle of a very cold Lake Huron. Fortunately, she was able to roll down her window and swim to safety. As Mythbusters once taught us, a sinking car can become dangerously impossible to exit if prompt action is not taken.

I love to make plans. When I travel, I like to know how I’m going to get there, how long I’m going to be there, where I’m going to stay and what I want to do and see while I’m there. With technology, these are easy things to do these days. But there is much about our future we don’t know and we can’t plan, and that is where our faith comes in. The apostle Paul wanted to visit his friends in Thessalonica and encourage them in their faith. But he knew that in order for that to happen, God had to orchestrate the plans. So, he writes in 1 Thessalonians 3:11: “Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you.” When God directs our way, He aligns our steps with His purposes, even when the road feels uncertain or delayed. Today, pause and pray Paul’s prayer for yourself. Invite God to direct your way—your decisions, your relationships, your ministry, your future. When the Lord leads, the path may not always be easy, but it will always be right.
These have been words from the heart.
