Plans fail for lack of counsel,
but with many advisers they succeed.

Advisors

There is a difference between a financial advisor and a financial planner. A financial advisor is a general term that can apply to anybody who helps you manage your money. This could include an employee of your financial institution, a stockbroker or an insurance agent. A financial planner is a type of advisor who helps you create a plan to reach your long-term financial goals. Financial planners may offer you a variety of services, such as helping you create a budget, identifying ways you can save money on your taxes and helping you plan your retirement.

Over the years at Bible League Canada, we have learned the importance of collaboration. When teams work together, so more gets done for the Kingdom. Getting a variety of well-thought-out and prayed-for opinions gives us a variety of points of view and helps us to more easily determine God’s will for any decision. This isn’t anything new. Wise King Solomon recognized this in his day and noted, in Proverbs 15:22: “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Solomon was noted for his wisdom – it had been God’s gift to him after all. He saw how important it was for a leader to hear from as many people as possible in order to make the best decision. This is particularly so for God’s people. God often speaks to us in the counsel of wise, biblically knowledgeable advisors. If you are facing a decision today, God has given you other wise Christians to help you determine His will and wisdom. Plans succeed, Solomon noted, with the wise advice of many advisors. God has provided them for you.
