…rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.

There are some mysteries to the Christian faith. One is what I like to call Kingdom of God mathematics – 100%+100% = 100%. In Philippians 2:6, the apostle Paul tells us that Jesus is, by nature, God – 100%. In the next verse, Philippians 2:7, he speaks to Jesus’ other nature: “…rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” This is no doubt the greatest act of humility ever. The great King of kings, whose home has always been Glory, and who has always received the worship and adoration due Him from angels and His creation, stepped into a world marked by the corruption and perversion that resulted from the sin that settled into the hearts of the highest of His creation. He came because His desire has always been to know us, to experience what it means to be fully human. Because He did, we have a God who understands what it feels like to go through pain, loss, grief, loneliness. Whatever you are facing right now, Jesus understands, and has sent the Holy Spirit as the Comforter we need.
These have been words from the heart.
