You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.

Isaiah 26:3 NIV

You Keep Him

Canadian peacekeeping is a part of the country’s identity, and it has played a prominent role in separating armies and in the resolution of conflicts in many countries, including Cyprus, the Middle East, Haiti, Bosnia, Cambodia, El Salvador and Angola. Currently, Canadian peacekeepers are serving in 14 operations in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East. Canadians began to think of peacekeeping as their unique vocation after Lester Pearson’s leadership in the 1956 Suez Crisis and Canada’s role in the UN Emergency Force he helped create.

Have you ever taken time to consider what you are keeping your mind on during the day. Usually we think thousands of thoughts, most of which flit through, soon forgotten. For the follower of Jesus, our mind ought to be on Him regularly. Is yours? The Bible tells us that if we want the assurance of God’s peace and presence, we must think about Him often. The prophet says this in Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Keeping steadfast in our thinking takes some work. We need to focus on the Lord Jesus throughout the day, by taking time in His word, drawing our minds to the truth we find there, and filling our lives with worship music, drawing our hearts to His glory. Take time today to consider where you are focusing your thoughts. Are you taking time to keep your thought life, and prayer life, focused on the Lord Jesus? With your mind steadfast on Jesus, your trust in Him will grow and you will continually experience the peace of God that passes all understanding.

These have been words from the heart.
