…Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.
Jude 1:2 NIV
Mercy, Peace and Love
Canada’s role in the development of and participation in peacekeeping during the 20th century led to its reputation as a positive middle power. Canada’s successful role in mediating the 1956 Suez Canal Crisis gave it credibility and established it as a country fighting for the common good of all nations. The Canadian public came to identify the nation’s peacekeeping role as the country’s top contribution in international affairs. Canada faced controversy over its involvement in some peacekeeping efforts, however, resulting in a military reassessment in the late 1990s.

Jesus came from glory for one express purpose – to offer Himself as a sacrifice, taking upon Himself the punishment we deserve for our sin, and making a way for us to enjoy an intimate relationship with our Creator God. Any of us who have had the experience of knowing our sins are forgiven by God’s grace know the joy that comes with that experience. But there is so much more to the Christian life and so Jude gets at that in the second verse of his letter: “…Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” Jesus said, in John 10:10 that He comes to give us abundant life and in that abundance is including mercy, peace, and love. First, mercy for those times we allow sin into our hearts and lives, peace knowing that all is right between us and God, and the love of God expressed in a myriad of ways through the day. I pray that today you will experience an abundance of God’s mercy, a deep abiding peace that carries you through whatever you are facing today, and an overwhelming sense of God’s deep and abiding love – all through Jesus.
These have been words from the heart.
