May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Abounding In Hope
Bird Studies Canada and partners are thrilled to announce the designation of a new Important Bird and Biodiversity Area or IBA in the southwestern James Bay region! The new site amalgamates seven former IBAs, covers an additional 716 square kilometres and was created to better reflect bird habitat use and movements within this unique area. The new IBA is named Pei lay sheesh kow, which in Cree means ‘an area that abounds with birds’ – a description it certainly lives up to!

As a nation, Canada abounds in nature and natural resources. It is one of the main reasons why people come to visit our country. While these are a great blessing, there is only one place to look if a person wants to experience an abundance of what is one of the most important aspects of being human – hope. Paul the apostle writes about this in Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” I was speaking to a young songwriter one day. He had just released a song that, among other things, mentioned that when we die, that’s the end – we simply cease to exist. I said to him, “where is the hope in that?” He said, “there is no hope.” Sadly, that is what so many in his generation believe. No wonder suicide rates are so high. What a contrast to what the Bible teaches. The God we know through faith in Jesus Christ is the God of hope. He fills His followers with an abundance of hope – in this life and eternity.
These have been words from the heart.
