Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Luke 6:38 NIV
Measured Back
Canada began converting to the International System of Units in 1971 and is now officially completely metric. Canada’s former measurement system derived mainly from the imperial system, with some contribution from a French measurement system. The imperial system was codified in its first reasonably “scientific” form in 1838, following a complex history. A number of imperial units like foot or mile can be traced back to the Roman Empire; however, their magnitude has fluctuated with time and locality.

God is the ultimate giver. The Bible says that every good and perfect gift comes from Him. The old adage is true – you cannot outgive the Lord. Everything you have is His, after all, and so as you give from the resources He has supplied, you are giving what is His, anyway. As followers of Jesus, we see the need around us, and led by His Spirit, we want to meet that need. Out of His love for others, God then provides all we need to pour His resources into those who have the greatest need. Jesus speaks to this in Luke 6:38: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” This is not a verse about getting wealthy, it is a verse about generosity. The more you give, the more the Lord will provide for you so that you can then give more. It is a wonderful cycle. God is Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and He does it through us. Give to others, and God will give you even more to give away.
These have been words from the heart.
