Attaining to the Resurrection

A 2023 Statistics Canada report shows that the number of self-employed women in Canada is on the rise. Women now account for more than one-third of self-employed Canadians, a new study by Statistics Canada has found, but the number who were their “own boss” remains lower than men in terms of the total number of those employed in this country. The study found women represented 37 per cent of all Canadians who worked independently to operate a business, professional activities or were unpaid family workers — a rise from 26 per cent almost five decades earlier in 1976.

There are just some things we are unable to accomplish without the help of others, or having available the right tools. And there are some things that are beyond any human ability. Take the resurrection, for example. Only the divine power of Almighty God could bring Jesus, fully alive, from the tomb where He had been placed after his crucifixion. Paul speaks about Jesus’ resurrection, and his longing to share in all the resurrection provides for us. In Philippians 3:11, he writes, “…and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” Paul knew that the ultimate result of Jesus’ resurrection is our own – new life now and in eternity. The Sunday morning Jesus rose from the dead, the first fruits of those that will rise to new life in Him, our resurrection was guaranteed. Resurrection is more than an event; it’s a transformation. It’s the power that lifts us from spiritual death into vibrant life with God. Each day, we are invited to live in that power—choosing grace over guilt, hope over despair, and faith over fear.

These have been words from the heart.
