…that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable…
1 Thessalonians 4:4 NIV
Controlled Bodies
This past October, Canada’s parliament introduced legislation that tightens the country’s borders. Through Canada’s Border Plan, the Government of Canada is investing $1.3 billion in concrete action to keep communities safe on both sides of the border. The Border Plan provides $200 million to Public Safety Canada and the Communications Security Establishment Canada to support enhanced gathering of intelligence on transnational organized crime and illegal fentanyl, and to enable sharing with law enforcement partners across Canada and the United States.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, God cares about how you live your life. The moment you trusted Christ as your Saviour, you were set apart from your old life, from the principles of the world, that tell us we are free to live any way we want. The word Christian means “belonging to Christ” and because we do, we are called to be like Him in the way we think, act, live and love. So, we shouldn’t be surprised that Paul writes this in 1 Thessalonians 4:4: “…that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable…” Paul calls us, in Romans 12:1, to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. God cares about how we use our bodies, what we take in, what we do, and how we live. Our culture tells us that self-control is outdated and that desire should always lead the way. Scripture tells a different story. Holiness is not about shame or suppression; it’s about stewardship. When we learn to govern our lives with God’s wisdom, we honour both the Giver and the gift.
These have been words from the heart.
