Guidance
High school guidance counselors play an important role in Canadian students. Although their roles can differ depending on the school board and province, generally they give students advice about their academic performance and offer advice about how they can improve. They also assist students on issues relating to their mental health and overall psychological well-being. A major role is developing strategies to help students find their strengths and choose a career path. Guidance counselors also guide students with strategies to improve time-management, organization and other skills to help them successfully complete their high school education.

Many in our day, myself included, have come to appreciate, when traveling, the practicality of a good navigation device or the use of software like Google Maps. Not only do they give great direction, but they also can save us a lot of time being stuck in traffic jams by knowing about them and directing us around them. There is nothing like good, practical guidance. God has given us a spiritual navigation system as we travel through life. King Solomon spoke to this in Proverbs 11:14 when he says, “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.” God’s greatest navigation system for life is the Bible, of course. As we read it and study it, God gives practical advice on living in victory day by day. He speaks to us through it. But He has also given us each other, and in the counsel of many, Solomon says, we will walk in victory. Seek out brothers and sisters in Christ who see through Kingdom-of-God lenses and who will give godly advice.
