“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”
Matthew 6:28-29 NIV
Growing Flowers
Alberta’s provincial flower, the wild rose, holds deep meaning and symbolism for the province. Designated in 1930, the wild rose (Rosa acicularis) is a cherished floral emblem that grows throughout Alberta, showcasing its vibrant colors and enchanting fragrance. This beautiful flower not only adds natural beauty to the province but also plays a significant role in Alberta’s cultural heritage. Its scarlet berries provide food for birds during the winter. With its delicate petals and vibrant pink hues, the wild rose embodies the spirit of Alberta and symbolizes the province’s resilience and beauty.

One glimpse of Banff Alberta or the tides of the Bay of Fundy and it is obvious that God is the Master Creator. Nothing men or women can create comes anywhere near what God can do and he has done when he spoke this world into being. Jesus recognized this when he said, in Matthew 6:28-29: “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.” This is a beautiful time of the year in Canada. Gardens across the country are ablaze with glorious colour. Jesus reminds us that in their natural beauty, they outshine even the most glorious of human beings. God has created them and takes care of them which ought to remind us just how much He loves us and will take care of us. We all worry far too much about our everyday needs. Every time we see the beauty of the flowers around us, let’s remember that God has promised to take care of us. He will.
These have been words from the heart.
