If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!

Philippians 1:22 NIV

Fruitful Labour

Canadians have the right to be treated fairly in workplaces free from discrimination, and our country has laws and programs to protect this right. The Canadian Human Rights Act is a broad-reaching piece of legislation that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity and other grounds. Also, Canada’s Employment Equity Act and the Federal Contractors Program require employers to take active measures to improve the employment opportunities for specific groups of people in our country. Both the labour rights and responsibilities of employers and employees within federally regulated sectors fall under the Canada Labour Code.

There are days when heaven seems very enticing. For the follower of Jesus, it is our ultimate reward – to spend eternity in the presence of Jesus in a perfect Kingdom. Paul the apostle had many bad days – his life in serving the Lord was so often difficult. As he writes to the Christians in Philippi, he expresses the tension he feels – he loves what the Lord has called him to do while here, and at the same time longs to go to be with Jesus. What he does know is that as long as the Lord has him here, he will find great satisfaction in accomplishing what he is called to do. He says this in Philippians 1:22: “If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labour for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!” The Lord has you here for a reason, follower of Jesus. We are called to bear fruit for the Kingdom and its King. No matter what the circumstances of your life, commit yourself to loving others and bearing fruit for Jesus.

These have been words from the heart.
