For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
His Workmanship
Construction specifications are the backbone of any successful building project. They detail the materials, systems, and workmanship required to bring a design to life. In Canada, writing specs involves navigating a unique framework of national and regional standards, industry best practices, and professional guidance. Construction specifications in Canada are guided by standardized frameworks and resources that help with consistency and quality. Just like in any other country, specs in Canada have different requirements and structures depending on whether they are for a public or private project.

We appreciate good workmanship. When we built our house a few years ago, we were impressed by the level of care the trades took in their work. I’m not very handy, so that made things even more impressive. One of the tradesmen came by the house after it was built, asking if he could take some pictures of the work he had done to promote his business – I love when people are proud of the good work they do. If this is the case with human beings, it is even more so with our Creator. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” You have been carefully created by the Master Craftsman, the Lord Jesus. He takes great joy in you, and when you do what He designed you to do, both you and He are pleased. Make sure you develop the gifts that God has given you and do all you do for His glory and to the best of your ability. You will bring honour to your Creator and satisfaction to your own soul.
These have been words from the heart.
