Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else…

There is always the temptation, when we are listening to a sermon, to think, “well, I sure hope that so and so is listening. They really need to hear this.” The Bible reminds us that we have enough things on our own lives to be concerned about, and these are the things we need to focus on. Galatians 6:4 says: “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else…” God is calling His people, us, to regularly judge our own actions. Sometimes what we do is flat out sin, and we need to take stock of this, asking ourselves why we do this, and repenting. Sometimes, we do good things, but with the wrong motives. We need to examine ourselves and ask the Lord to align our motives to the Kingdom of God. We are the only ones responsible before God for our actions and attitudes. We need to judge our lives against the Word of God and its call to be perfect as He is perfect. Let’s get our eyes off everyone else, and test our own actions, judging them against the holiness of God alone.
These have been words from the heart.
