For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Gursimran Kaur was burned to death at the Walmart Bakery location on Mumford Road in Halifax, Nova Scotia, last October 19. According to organizers of a Go Fund Me account, Kaur and her mother had worked at Walmart for two years. Kaur’s father and brother are in India and are working to get to Canada amid the tragic incident. The mother contacted the store’s onsite admin for help in finding Kaur. After a few hours, the mother reportedly opened the oven to find her daughter’s “charred remains.”

When the magi came, they brought to Jesus three interesting gifts – gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold was a gift fit for a king, frankincense signifies Jesus’ deity – it was an incense used in worship – and myrrh pointed to His death – it was used for embalming. Even in His childhood, we are made aware that He had come to lay down His life for those He loves. The apostle Paul tells us this in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.” Since the Church was birthed on Pentecost, followers of Jesus have been passing on the good news that He died for all. Jesus came to take upon Himself the punishment we deserve for our sins. He bore our sin and God’s supreme justice was met. So, we can be forgiven, redeemed, set free. He did this for you, and by faith you can receive it all.
These have been words from the heart.
