Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Ephesians 6:10 NIV

Finally

A Canada goose named Wilson — who spent months with an arrow lodged in his rump — is finally flying free. The bird was released on March 31 at Squamish BC’s Brennan Park field, where dozens had gathered to cheer him on to freedom. As the cage door opened and Wilson took a few tentative steps, he turned toward a nearby flock of geese and took flight, marking the end of a months-long rescue effort that brought together a local photographer, veterinarians, wildlife rescuers, and an entire community.

In Ephesians 6, Paul draws a mental picture of how a follower of Christ can stand strong in the midst of challenging times. He takes the armour of a Roman soldier and uses each piece as a picture of how we put on spiritual armour that Jesus provides for us – the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with the Gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. Then, in Ephesians 6:10 he wraps it all up by saying, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” God provides all we need to live victoriously – truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation and His word – and then adds his strength. Whatever you are facing today, God’s strength is available. When we reach the end of our resources, His never depleting, always powerful, supernatural strength is available. He never gives an unfunded mandate. When Jesus calls you to something, He provides all you need to accomplish it. So, finally, after everything is said and done, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty, amazing, never-ending power.

These have been words from the heart.
