The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 NIV
Not Wishing Any Should Perish
More than 100 of Canada’s species at risk of extinction — including the Vancouver Island marmot and the Ogilvie Mountains collared lemming in the Yukon — occur nowhere else in the world, according to a 180-page report. The report, published by the Canadian Endangered Species Conservation Council, is the result of a collaboration between hundreds of Canadian scientists over five years in partnership with federal, provincial and territorial governments. As MP David Duguid said “Extinction is a very chilling word. Once something is gone, it is gone forever.”

Jesus loves you. It is why He stepped out of glory and why He spent three decades of his life ministering and teaching, finally dying in your place and breaking free from the grave. He didn’t need to do any of that. As Creator God, He is completely self-sufficient, not in any way needing a relationship with us to be complete. But out of love He created us and out of love He came to redeem us, to claim for His own what had been stolen by sin. If there was any of His disciples who understood this, it was the apostle Peter, who had been set free from his sin, experiencing the restoration to ministry that only Jesus could provide. So, it doesn’t surprise us that he writes this in 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Jesus calls all of us to repentance and to faith in Him by which we experience life abundant and eternal.
These have been words from the heart.
