Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace and Peace

More than 10 years ago, The Salvation Army began discussions about a new housing facility to help meet a growing need in Edmonton. An underutilized property owned by The Salvation Army presented a promising opportunity to create something different. In June 2023, Grace Village moved residents into the 175-unit facility, which features transitional housing for residents to stay up to 18 months at a time, supportive housing, and a stabilization program to help bridge the gap for people with changing or uncertain living situations, or for those waiting to enter treatment programs.

Happy New Year! 2026 has arrived with the tension between hope and uncertainty. The hope is for a world more peaceful than last year, a society where we can disagree without being disagreeable and for loved ones who aren’t walking with the Lord to fall deeply in love with Jesus. Uncertainty because we who follow Jesus realize that there will really be no peace on earth until Jesus comes again – and how we long for that to be this year. We cry with John the Revelator, “even, so, come Lord Jesus.” At the beginning of this new year and new month, we receive the greeting that Paul gave to the church in Philippi in Philippians 1:2: “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” It is the knowledge that God’s grace is upon us that gives us His peace, no matter what will happen this year. We have experienced His grace when our lives were transformed by the Lord Jesus. We continue to experience His grace every day. That is promised for the entirety of 2026. No matter what happens – His grace and peace are yours.

These have been words from the heart.
