God is the great giver of gifts. James tells us that every good and perfect gift comes down from God the Father. The most precious gift He gives is the gift of Himself – in the person of Jesus and in the Holy Spirit. Paul writes this in 2 Timothy 1:7: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” The gift of the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest mysteries in the Christian life. The fact that our Creator God takes us residence in the heart of every follower of Jesus is hard to grasp. How is this possible? The One who is outside of time and space fills our lives, empowering us to live a life of holiness and righteousness. Through us, the love of Jesus is manifested, and we are disciplined to live a life that looks and acts like Jesus. As we surrender more of our will to His will, the Holy Spirit fills us with boldness and faith, giving us gifts that build up the Body of Christ. What a gift we have in His presence, and in His power.

These have been words from the heart.
