And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The Greatest

To get Canadians debating, there is nothing like asking who they think is the greatest Canadian athlete of all time. Well, according to the website newarena.com, the top three are all hockey players. In third place is Bobby Orr, in second place is Gordie Howe and at the top spot, not surprisingly, is Wayne Gretsky. The article describes him as “Graceful, threatening, lethal, and unassuming, there wasn’t much Gretzky couldn’t do on the ice.” Okay, Canadians, let the debate begin!

There are so many blessings being a part of the family of God. We receive gift after gift – eternal life, forgiveness of sins, redemption, fellowship with other believers, peace of heart, daily joy in our walk with Jesus, a purpose in life and a calling that matches that purpose. What a blessing it is to walk with Jesus. The Bible tells us that three of the blessings that we get when we put our trust in Jesus rise above the rest, as wonderful as they all are. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” The greatest of our gifts we receive from God are faith, hope and love. It is by faith that we receive Jesus and walk with Him daily. It is hope that overcomes all the world throws our way. It is love that overwhelms us that drives us to love others. The greatest of the great gifts is love, the agape love of God that gives us value and spurs us on to love others. Live in the love of Jesus for you and others.
