Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV
God’s Love Perseveres
In a recent blog on the social publishing platform Medium, Sandeep Gupta writes “The 11th of April 2024 marks a milestone for me and my family, ten years since we landed at Pearson airport as new immigrants. Celebrating a decade of Canadian life fills me with gratitude and joy. It marks not only a personal milestone but also a journey of perseverance and growth as an immigrant in this wonderful country. I persevered with the support of my family and the thought of a better life in Canada.”

It’s hard to keep pressing on. When life is difficult, when the challenging times come and they last a long time, it’s hard to keep on trusting and praying. But when love comes into the equation, it becomes much easier. How is that? If you have a child who isn’t walking with the Lord, you never give up praying for him or her, do you? You pray and pray and keep on praying, because you love your child, and your greatest desire is for them to come to a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. True agape love does that. That’s why Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” The agape love of God always perseveres. It pushes through any challenge or difficulty. Trust God’s persevering love especially when the challenges come.
These have been words from the heart.
