Overcoming Faith
It was Canadian inventors who overcame a huge obstacle – creating enormous films for Expo 67. After being independently asked to produce large-screen films for Expo 67 (In the Labyrinth and Polar Life), Graeme Ferguson, Roman Kroitor and Robert Kerr realized they needed different equipment. When they were asked by Japan to produce a film for its Expo ’70, the men created Multiscreen Corporation. Ferguson, Kroitor and Kerr recruited engineer William Shaw to help them invent the cameras needed to film in image maximum — IMAX for short. Tiger Child, screened at Expo ’70, was the first-ever IMAX movie.

The world bombards us with its worldview all day long. Social media, TV shows, news channels all promote the philosophies of the world – hate those who have a different view than you, pretty much everything is acceptable, you are the centre of your own world, more stuff will make you a better person, fear – are all promoted by the world. So those of us who walk in faith, trusting Jesus and living by the principles of the word of God must be careful not to get caught up in all of this. The apostle deals with this in 1 John 5:4: “for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” We are called to not only not be sucked in by the world’s thinking, we must overcome. We do so by walking in faith daily. Every morning, we must ask ourselves and the Lord “How can I walk in Jesus today, overcoming the temptations of the world to think, act and live like it?” Walk in faith today.
