Human beings so often fail. While it is true that some fail more often than others, none of us are perfect. We have all broken our promises at one time or another and hurt even those we love the most. Some have paid a great price for their failing love. Which makes it challenging to trust even God. King David had certainly made serious mistakes and let others down. He was guilty of adultery and murder – he had let his entire nation down, particularly those who loved him best. Through it all, he learned that there was only One whose love was consistently unfailing. In Psalm 107:8, David writes: “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind…” In the midst of a world of disappointment, there is our Creator who is eternally trustworthy in His love for us. No matter how badly disappointed you have been, you can trust Him fully. David calls us to give thanks to Him for the many ways that God has expressed His love to us. Every good and perfect gift comes from him – every blessing that is yours. Give Him thanks.
These have been words from the heart.
