But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.

Foretold

Back in January, Canadians said they were battening down the hatches heading into the new year, with 6 in 10 expecting the overall economy to worsen in 2026, a survey by consumer insolvency firm MNP Ltd. showed. Almost three in four of Canadians expected higher living costs and 59 per cent said they expect the overall economy to worsen. Another 59 per cent said they expect rising housing pressure and 54 per cent said higher interest rates and inflation are likely to add financial strain on their finances.

It isn’t easy living with a Kingdom of God worldview in a world where we are bombarded by the principles that drive life here. Social media doesn’t help. The world in which Jude lived may have been very different from ours when it comes to technology and media, but the human heart was the same. So, he writes these words that resonate in our day in Jude 1:17: “But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.” That’s a powerful reminder for us today. The apostles were living in the first days of the church, and they faced opposition, false teaching, and confusion—just like we do. Yet they did not retreat. They did not soften the truth. They held fast to the Word of God. When Jude tells us to remember what the apostles foretold, he is urging us to stay grounded in Scripture. He is saying: Don’t drift. Don’t be swayed by every new idea that comes along. The apostles point us to the same unchanging truth—Jesus Christ. Keep focused, Christian, on Him and His word.

These have been words from the heart.
