There must be a lot of unknowns in moving to Canada from another country. Moving to a new country is always an adventure, but Canada offers its own unique blend of surprises, challenges, and delightful discoveries. In an online article on MSN that quotes newcomers to this country, a 41-year-old engineer explains, “Getting my credentials recognized took longer than expected. I had to take additional courses to practice in my field.” Professional accreditation processes can be lengthy and complex for immigrants.”

The old gospel hymn that we used to sing often says “trust and obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” It is a lie to believe that we can speak a brief prayer of faith in Jesus and then go on to live any way we want. There have always been those who have taught this, but Ecclesiastes 12:13 is clear: “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” There is no doubt that our salvation is provided through Jesus’ death on the cross and guaranteed by His resurrection. We come into relationship with Him through faith and trust. That’s how eternal life is secured. We then become a disciple of Jesus. Being a disciple means becoming a follower – that’s where the trust and obey comes! The more we get to know Jesus, the greater we understand Him to be. Imagine, our Creator has become our Redeemer, Saviour, and Friend. So, we are called to walk with Him, always with a sense of awe.
