Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 NIV
Wait
The Fraser Institute’s latest report on healthcare wait times reveals that Canadian patients in 2024 faced the longest medical treatment wait times ever recorded. The median wait time for treatment in Canada last year was 30 weeks, which is the longest ever recorded, an increase from previous years — 27.7 weeks in 2023, 27.4 weeks in 2022 and 25.6 weeks in 2021. This duration marks a staggering increase from the 9.3-week wait recorded in 1993. All of this is testing Canadian’s patience.

We don’t like to wait. Particularly in this fast-food day in which we live, when we are used to getting what we want immediately, to have to wait can be challenging. Which is why many followers of Jesus have a harder time trusting in God’s timing than they do trusting in His will. The Lord, however, is never rushed and He knows what we need and when. King David understood what it meant to have to wait on the Lord. He faced many challenges in his life that I’m sure he wished had been dealt with more quickly than they were. But he learned many lessons in those times of waiting. So, he was able to write, in Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” We are all waiting on the Lord for something – a child to return to the Lord, maybe, or a loved one to get well, maybe a reunion with a good friend. We have prayed for a long time. Keep praying. Be strong and take heart. Wait for the Lord. He will answer – in His time.
These have been words from the heart.
