As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
Philippians 1:13 NIV
Imprisoned for Christ
Canada has a complex network of correctional facilities at the federal, provincial/territorial, and military levels. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) runs federal penitentiaries for inmates serving 2 or more years. These range from minimum to maximum security levels and include special rehabilitation centers and Indigenous healing lodges. Correctional Services Canada manages 5 regional centers for offenders with mental health needs requiring specialized care. Those serving under 2-year sentences reside in provincial/territorial correctional centers. Each region maintains its own network of facilities by security type and population.

I have a pastor friend who lives in a country where he is at risk of arrest every time he preaches in his church. He never knows the next time the police will come during the worship service to disrupt the service and arrest him and other leaders. So, he goes to church every Sunday with two sermons – one for the church and one to preach in prison to the other prisoners. He has had to do so many times and has seen many others in prison experience the total transformation that only Jesus can bring. Paul said that the same thing happened in his life. In Philippians 1:13, he writes: “As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.” Paul’s time in prison impacted many who were there – inmates and guards alike. There are times when we face opposition and criticism just because we love Jesus and speak up for Him. Don’t worry when that happens – this just gives us a greater opportunity to share Jesus. In this, God is glorified, and His Kingdom increased.
These have been words from the heart.
