In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:1-5 NIV
In the Beginning Was the Word
At some point millennia back, the land of North America laid eyes on its first inhabitants, Paleo-Indians, who are believed to have traveled across the Bering Strait land bridge or Beringia. Low sea levels that happened in glacial periods caused this landmass to become a crossing for humans. Glaciers covering Canada started melting, and Paleo-Indians began moving south into the land, and after a few more millennia, they cultivated their food. Paleo-Inuit found their way into the area in 3000 BC.

The apostle John begins his Gospel even before the book of Genesis. The first book of the Bible begins with God creating. John begins his Gospel with the pre-existent God, who has always existed. Because we think in such finite terms, we find it difficult to comprehend the God who has not beginning and no end. So, John begins this way, in John 1:1-5: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Before the world existed, there was the logos, the word, Jesus. Before anything was spoken into being, there He was – the word. He would create all things simply by speaking things into being. While here, He would speak and demons would flee, storms would cease, and waves would calm. He still speaks His peace into our lives today.
These have been words from the heart.
