I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

Instruct

According to Statistics Canada, approximately 75% of the population of Québec have French as their first language, and the proportion of the population who say they know French is even higher, at 94%. In addition to being the language of everyday life in most regions of Québec, French is the language of instruction. The Charter of the French language states that all children must be educated in French until the end of their secondary studies, whether in a public school or a subsidized private school.

Education is vital for the development of a society. It is also vital for the spiritual development of a follower of Jesus. Over and over the Bible tells us to study God’s Word so that we can grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus and be established in our faith. So, it shouldn’t surprise us that King David writes this in Psalm 32:8: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Jesus’ disciples loved being taught by Him. They didn’t always understand what He was saying, but they clung on every word and later, filled with the Holy Spirit, they would remember and understand. God is the ultimate educator. He wants us to know Him, and to know how He wants us to live in order to honour Him with our lives. This is why the Bible is so important – without taking time to read it and study it, we won’t know what His will is for our lives. His counsel is always wise, and we do well to hear Him, and then to walk in obedience as true students of the Great Teacher.

These have been words from the heart.
