Do everything in love.

Let All You Do
Canada’s working-age population is older than it has ever been, according to new census figures released back in 2022. More than one in five working adults is nearing retirement, says Statistics Canada — a demographic shift that will create significant challenges for the Canadian workforce in the coming decade. Laurent Martel, director for the centre of demography at Statistics Canada, called it a “date with demographic destiny.” He said “Canada is at a very special place right now, there are very large implications of this situation and it is certainly one factor explaining the current labour shortages that Canada is experiencing.”

Some of the most powerful Scripture verses are short. When we were little, we memorized the shortest verse in the Bible – “Jesus wept.” It was an easy one for a Sunday School Bible verse memorization competition. There is another short verse that should be just as well known. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Do everything in love.” This is a beautiful encapsulation of the Christian life. He is wrapping up his first epistle, and in the verse before he calls the believers to be on their guard, to stand firm in the faith, to be courageous and strong. This epistle has been reminding the Church how important it is to do things in order and to be standing strong in truth and the faith. And as he does in the 13th chapter of this same epistle, He reminds them that as they stand strong in Jesus, and serve Him, all they do must be done in love, with the grace that they have experienced in Christ. So must we. As we stand for Jesus today, let’s stay strong, and do everything in love.
These have been words from the heart.
