Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,
and for their children it will be a refuge.
Proverbs 14:26 NIV
God Is Our Security
Following the attempted assassination of former President Trump back in July, Canada’s Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc said he had been briefed by the RCMP and CSIS. “They went through the threat landscape. They talked to me about the additional vigilance that they’ve put in place since the assassination attempt,” he said. LeBlanc said the government won’t talk about specific security measures but added “I am confident that the RCMP will do what’s necessary to protect elected leaders in Canada.”

We long for security in our world. In a day when the most private of our information too often is hacked and spread who knows where on the world wide web. Our medical information, our financial records, our online activities, are too often compromised and used by those with nefarious plans. We understand, more than ever, the need for security. There are things we can do to help be secure with our earthly lives. There is only one thing we can do when it comes to our soul. King Solomon says this in Proverbs 14:26: “Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.” When we trust the Lord, when we put our hope in Jesus, He guards our hearts and protects us from anything that would draw us away from him. We do play a part in this. We need to keep our eyes on Him, and not allow ourselves to find ourselves in a place, physically or spiritually, where we would be tempted to step away from the fortress that is our God. Stay close to Him. Keep your eyes on Him. Read His word. You will find He is your secure fortress.
These have been words from the heart.
