“But I will restore you to health
and heal your wounds,”
declares the Lord,
“because you are called an outcast,
Zion for whom no one cares.”
Jeremiah 30:17 NIV
Health
Healthcare in Canada is delivered through the provincial and territorial systems of publicly funded health care, informally called Medicare. It is guided by the provisions of the Canada Health Act of 1984 and is universal. The 2002 Royal Commission, known as the Romanow Report, revealed that Canadians consider universal access to publicly funded health services as a “fundamental value that ensures national health care insurance for everyone wherever they live in the country.” Canadian Medicare provides coverage for approximately 70 percent of Canadians’ healthcare needs.

Jeremiah didn’t have an easy job. Prophets never do, but his was particularly challenging. God was going to get His people’s attention by using the Babylonian King. They would be taken into captivity and Jerusalem would be destroyed. In the midst of all that, Jeremiah had to call God’s people to repentance, turning their hearts back to the Lord. After 70 years, they would return to Jerusalem, settling there again and rebuilding their city and the great Temple. But God’s grace was evident, even in the midst of the exile. In Jeremiah 30:17 the prophet gave this promise: “’But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord, ‘because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.’” God would restore their health. The wounds that He would heal were not just physical. He would restore them as a nation. He would return them to Jerusalem. He loved His people and would never abandon them. He loves you too, and no matter what you are facing right now, you can count on God’s promises. This time will not last forever. He will restore you, healing you in every way and bringing you back to the place of great blessing.
These have been words from the heart.
