I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
Psalm 9:1 NIV
Wonderful Deeds
Canadians are known for doing good deeds for one another. For example, an effort to recruit stem cell donors within Black communities is being driven by a group of women who’ve had difficulty finding full genetic matches themselves. For patients in need of stem cell transplants, such as those with leukemia and lymphoma, genetic matches are crucial — and are most commonly found within their own racial and ethnic groups. The new Black Donors Save Lives campaign notes that fewer than 3 percent of those in the Canadian Blood Services stem cell donor registry are Black.

Have you ever kept track of the blessings God sends your way? Very few people do, but if we did, I think the old hymn would be right – it would surprise us what the Lord has done. God loves to bless His people. Immediately after sin entered into the Eden He created, God has been at work redeeming all that was lost to Adam and Eve’s disobedience. He provided clothing for them, at the cost of the life of an animal. In the midst of their sin, and ours, God continues to love us and bless us in so many ways. King David was constantly aware of how much he benefited from the blessings God brought his way. In Psalm 9:1 he writes: “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Which brings us back to keeping track of all that God does for us. King David mentions many of God’s blessings in his psalms. Take time today to keep track of all God’s wonderful deeds in your life and then give thanks.
These have been words from the heart.
