Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago.

Isaiah 25:1 NIV

Early Planning

The normal age to retire and start receiving a pension in Canada is 65. This is when your Old Age Security kicks in and when you get an ‘unreduced’ benefit from the Canada Pension Plan. While a traditional retirement age of 65 has been the norm, early retirement at 60, 55, or even earlier has become more mainstream in recent years. Many retirees want to get out of the workforce to pursue their dreams, travel the world, improve their health, and spend more time with family and friends.

At Bible League Canada, our fiscal year starts September 1. But the planning for the new fiscal year starts back in February, when strategies and budgets begin to get established. The planning season is six months long. If that is how long a human organization needs to get things right, imagine how long God began His preparation for the Creation and governing of this world. The prophet writes this in Isaiah 25:1: “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” What Isaiah is saying is important – this world is not a last-minute plan. You are not a product of chance. The Creator of this world – your creator – has planned for this world and for each of us long ago. The things of God are wonderful things – just look at the things God has created. The world has issues, no doubt – that is the fault of mankind and a fallen world. God even has a plan to do something about that. Take time today to exalt Him.

These have been words from the heart.
