For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.

1 Timothy 4:4 NIV

Everything Made

If you pick up a pack of Halls, you’ll be getting another little taste of home, since they’re made in the Greater Toronto Area. In fact, those little cough drops are Scarborough’s biggest export, with an estimated 7-billion lozenges consumed in North America annually; enough that if you lined them side-by-side, they would circle the Earth at the equator approximately 3.4 times. The brand was founded by the Hall Brothers company in Whitefield, Lancashire, England. The company was later acquired by Warner-Lambert in 1964, and then by Pfizer in 2000.

It is too easy in these challenging days to get caught up in all that seems wrong in this world. The politics of our day have caused many to lose sleep and live in fear. Economic challenges have led to many wondering where they are going to get their next meal or how they will be able to keep a roof over their heads. These are very real problems that followers of Christ are called to step into as the Body of Christ, His hands and feet and heart. At the same time, we need to keep our eyes on the Lord and to be grateful for all He has provided. The apostle Paul reminded his young friend this in 1 Timothy 4:4: “For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.” The context here was that there were those within the early church that were teaching that in order to follow God, you couldn’t eat certain foods. Paul calls Timothy, and us, to enjoy the lovely things that God has provided for us and to receive our blessings with thanksgiving.

These have been words from the heart.
