As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

Walking to Please God

According to the Lonely Planet website, one of the best hiking trails in Canada is the East Coast trail in Newfoundland. This epic 336km trail, one of the longest in Canada, showcases another bit of the country’s natural beauty with each national historic site, coastal village, forest, cliff and bridge you pass. The route is divided into 25 wilderness trails – all linked and arranged in a linear fashion. It takes around six days of hiking to complete the trail; along the way, you can choose to camp at designated campgrounds or stay at local B&Bs and inns.

I heard a testimony a while back from a man who was in a Christ-centred rehab program. He said he grew up in a Christian home and tried for years to live with one foot in the Christian faith and one foot in the world. He went on to say that it wasn’t long before he found himself with both feet in the world, and his life spiralled downhill from there. The Bible tells us that if we are truly redeemed by Christ, our whole lives must be committed to Him. Paul writes this in 1 Thessalonians 4:1: “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.” God is not satisfied with just a part of our lives—He wants it all. The Christian life isn’t about guilt or legalism; it’s about growing closer to Jesus, learning to reflect His character, and letting His Spirit shape our actions.
