blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

While our TVs are filled with popular food shows these days, preparing delicious cuisine isn’t new. Cookbooks have been around for centuries. I suspect that trying new foods, cooked in new ways, with a variety of spices, have been around since human beings invented fire. People love to eat, and we particularly love tasty food. The Lord knew this – when he gave the recently delivered-from-Egypt Israelites and gave them manna, He sweetened it, so it tasted like honey. So, it shouldn’t surprise us that King David would write, in Psalm 34:8: “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” God invites us to taste of His goodness. He invites us to experience the fullness of his presence in our lives. Walking with Him gives us a greater satisfaction than a delicious meal. Like trying a new food, God invites us to taste of Him, to put our faith in Him. When we do, we will discover just how wonderful He is to all who put their faith in Him. Taste and see.
These have been words from the heart.
