Renewed Strength
It was announced last year that Canada will invest $8.1 billion over the next five years, and $73 billion over the next 20 years, in our national defence. This includes $9.0 billion over 20 years to sustain military equipment under the National Procurement Program to ensure the Canadian Armed Forces can continue to receive the critical updates necessary to preserve its ability to deploy on operations. $18.4 billion will be spent over 20 years to acquire a more modern, mobile, and effective tactical helicopter capability.

Many people are chronically weary. They are busy with work, family responsibilities, church activities, sports, volunteering … we could go on and on. We can get tired just thinking about all this. While God does call us to serve Him, and the Bible is certainly filled with business, God doesn’t expect us to burn out. In fact, it can be argued that exhaustion should never be in the vocabulary of the follower of Christ. Over and over God promises to provide all we need to accomplish all that He calls us to do. Back in the Hebrew Scriptures we read this promise in Isaiah 40:31: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” What an incredible promise for all of us who love Jesus. He will provide the renewed strength as we hope in Him. As usual, God supplies an abundance of His provision – not only will we not grow weary, we will soar. Hope in God and experience His renewed strength.
