Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.
Philippians 3:1 NIV
Rejoice in the Lord
Back in 2024, the polling people Abacus released a poll about Canadian joy or happiness. The national survey, conducted with 3,000 Canadians, revealed that despite the mood of uncertainty in the country, the vast majority of Canadians still find moments of happiness and joy in their daily lives and the sources of happiness are as varied as the people who call our country home. Here’s something that should make us happy: 87% of Canadians experience moments of joy at least a few times a week, and many do so daily.

The things that bring joy in this world are often fleeting. We wish they would last longer, but often don’t. The joy that followers of Jesus experience is something altogether different. In Philippians 3:1, Paul writes: “Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.” Paul’s words in Philippians 3:1 remind us that joy is not just a fleeting emotion—it’s a spiritual safeguard. In a world filled with uncertainty, disappointment, and distraction, rejoicing in the Lord anchors our hearts in truth. When we rejoice in the Lord, we shift our focus from our circumstances to His character. We remember His faithfulness, His grace, and His promises. This kind of joy isn’t dependent on what’s happening around us—it’s rooted in who He is. Let today be a moment to pause and rejoice. Speak words from the heart that reflect gratitude, hope, and trust. Whether in prayer, song, or quiet reflection, let your soul find safety in the joy of the Lord. It’s not just a feeling—it’s a choice, a discipline, and a gift.
These have been words from the heart.
