Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 NIV

Canada’s embassies and consulates play a pivotal role in fostering international relations, contributing to peace, and supporting Canadian values and principles worldwide. Moreover, they play a crucial role in promoting trade and economic partnerships. In addition to diplomatic and trade functions, Canadian embassies provide essential consular services to Canadian citizens abroad. They offer assistance in emergencies, including consular protection, passport services, and support during crises, such as natural disasters or political unrest.

Jesus bears many names. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the bread of life, the water of life, the great I AM. I could go on and on. But one of my favourites is a name that we seem to focus on at this time of year – Immanuel. It is an appropriate name – when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, centuries of prophecies were fulfilled, including Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” There is no doubt that Jesus is the fulfillment of this prophecy – the virgin conceived and gave birth to a son. If this is true, so is the last part – He will be called Immanuel, which means God with us. Those who deny the deity of Jesus Christ have a huge problem with this verse. On the night Jesus was born, God stepped into our world. I love this name for Jesus, because He is still God with us. When He burst forth from the tomb and sent the Holy Spirit, He remained Immanuel. Our God is with us. What a joy to know that our God is here, now.
These have been words from the heart.
