The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

Loud Singing

Back in November 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, schools were still open, but students had to be masked, and loud singing was not permitted. So, Grade 3 teacher Alison Zimmerman came up with a unique idea. She learned the sign language version of O Canada and taught it to the children in her class. Each morning, she played a YouTube version of O Canada, and the entire class “sang” in using sign language. They sang our national anthem with their hands.

There is a group of Israeli Jews who are committed to the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. All of the necessary furniture and other Biblical accoutrements for the Temple have been built. We visited the Temple Institute, and they have paintings of worship in the Temple. There are trumpets and drums and choirs filling the court. The man who was giving us the tour said that Temple worship was very loud with lots of singing. We shouldn’t be surprised. Our God is a God who sings. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” What an amazing thought. God delights in you! He loves you and if you have been redeemed by faith in Jesus Christ, you are His child. It is hard to imagine God singing over you, but He does. Music has always been a part of worship by God’s people. We know why – our God is a singing God, and one day you will hear Him sing.

These have been words from the heart.
