“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
Come to Me
According to the Business Development Corporation, The Canadian economic landscape for 2025 is fraught with uncertainty. One of the key factors contributing to this unpredictability are the tariffs on Canadian goods from the American administration. As a result, the Canadian dollar has already lost value against the U.S. dollar. While uncertainty might slow overall economic growth, it could have a silver lining for the tourism sector. That’s because a weaker currency makes inbound tourism cheaper. It also makes it less likely that Canadian tourists will go abroad.

Just before preparing Words from the Heart for today, I heard a report on the news that local food banks are facing a critical shortage, at the same time as the needs are greater than ever before. It reminded me that human resources too often fall short of human need. That is never the case when it comes to our spiritual needs. Listen to this promise from Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30: “‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’” This is an amazing invitation from our Creator. He calls for us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened. He tells us that when we do, He yokes with us – He attaches us to Himself, and then He pulls the weight. That is why His yoke is easy – He takes the lead. Accept His invitation – come to Him in your weariness and burden, and He will give you rest.
These have been words from the heart.
