for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Philippians 2:13 NIV
God is At Work
It’s Labour Day, so let’s take some time today to talk about work. Canada is in need of many workers, and this need will increase in the months and years ahead. For example, It is predicted that there will be a need for 140,000 registered nurses in the near future, and 136,000 truck drivers. 31,000 job openings will soon be coming for welders, and 50,000 business consultant managers. If you are just coming into the workforce these days, there are lots of jobs to consider.

One of the reasons that so many Christians seem to do well with finances and seem to prosper in this world is because the Bible instructs us to work. We do so to honour the Lord and in order to put into practice the gifts that God has given us. Jesus tells the parable of the servants, and He commends those who put their talents to work, to invest them in order to prosper the Kingdom of God. The Bible says that if a man doesn’t work, he will not eat. This isn’t surprising – the God we love and serve is an active God. Paul writes this in Philippians 2:13: “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil his good purpose.” The idea of work doesn’t come from the mind of man. God is the creator of work, and He is at work in your life right now, to bring about His purpose for your life. He does His work in us so that we can do our work for His glory. As you set about to serve the Lord, know that He is doing a work in you as well.
These have been words from the heart.
