Light is sweet,
and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.
Ecclesiastes 11:7 NIV
When the Sun Rises
Sunny weather is preferred by most people as sunny days are known to uplift spirits and create a positive atmosphere. To find out which cities in Canada are the sunniest, Environment Canada collected the sunshine data of the 26 largest Canadian metropolitan areas, each with a population of over 100,000. The data was collected over a period between 1981 and 2010. Of all the cities, Calgary ranks number one as the sunniest city in the country, with 333 sunny days on average each year.

I have a friend who, when I ask him how he is, will say, “It’s a good day. When I woke up this morning, I looked up and there wasn’t brown above me.” And then he would give me a big smile. Even those of us who love Jesus and are already experiencing eternal life in preparation for all that is ours in Jesus after we breathe our last breath still love to get up each day and enjoy the day that God has set for us. In his book of wisdom, King Solomon, filled with godly wisdom, writes this in Ecclesiastes 11:7: “Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.” We all love to see the sun rise in the morning. Our backyard faces northeast, and there is no better place to see the sun rise each day than across the farm fields behind us. No matter what time of the year, on a cloudless morning, the sun brings health and hope. As King Solomon notes, light is sweet, and it is a blessing to see the sun. No matter what you are facing today, this day is a gift from the Lord. Take time to let him know what a blessing it is.
These have been words from the heart.
