fulfill your vows to the Most High.”

Sacrifice Thank Offerings

The Sacrifice Medal was created in the context of increased casualties in overseas operations to fulfill the desire of Canadians and the Government to provide formal recognition, through the award of an official medal emanating from the Crown to those who die as a result of military service or are wounded by hostile action. The honour replaced the Wound Stripe. The Medal may be awarded to members of the Canadian Forces or members of an allied force working as an integral part of the Canadian Armed Forces.

There have always been those who love the whole Christian thing and find hanging around church and singing songs about Jesus to be an enjoyable thing. There are benefits to Christian fellowship and Christians make great friends. But they compartmentalize their lives – they keep Jesus in one of those compartments and haul Him out at the appropriate times. Jesus said that nobody can serve two masters, but these people sure try. The Kingdom of God never allows this in the lives of those who truly follow Jesus. King David said this in Psalm 50:14: “’Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfil your vows to the Most High.’” David reminds followers of Jesus that there is a sacrifice demanded for those who truly love God. Even our thank-offering demands some kind of sacrifice. Today is Thanksgiving, and we will spend time with friends and family thanking God for every blessing in our lives. The Bible reminds us to take time today to consider how we sacrifice something in order to truly thank God for every blessing He pours out upon us. Fulfill your vows to Him by thanking Him in tangible ways that cost you something.

These have been words from the heart.
