Focus Our Thoughts
Here are some thoughts from a couple of Canadian authors: in his book The Rebel Angels, Robertson Davies writes “Conversation in its true meaning isn’t all wagging the tongue; sometimes it is a deeply shared silence.” In his book The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, Robin Sharma writes “Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It’s about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire teammates and customers.”

If your mind is like almost everyone else’s, during the day today your mind is going to be on a million different things. And if you have ADD, or ADHD, it will likely go off on a completely unplanned journey at the sight of a squirrel or bird, or some other distraction. The Bible reminds us to keep bringing our mind back on Christ, who must be the centering point for all we think during the day. Paul writes this in Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” In a world that wants to get our minds on the latest tragedy, world event, or profane posting on social media, God reminds us to keep pulling our thoughts back to the things of the Kingdom of God – to the things that are true, admirable, noble, right, pure, lovely. It will take a conscious effort to do so, along with a nearby Bible and music that lifts you to Jesus.
