Mustard Seed Faith
Canada is the world’s leading producer of mustard seed, with most of the production taking place in Saskatchewan. In 2022, Canadian farmers planted over 224,000 hectares of mustard seed, harvested almost 219,000 hectares, and produced 162,000 tonnes. The country has the world’s highest mustard production, followed by Nepal and Myanmar. High prices for the seed led to nearly double the acres planted for the 2022-23 marketing year, resulting in 177,000 tonnes produced.

Mulberry trees can grow as tall as 66 feet. Their root system doesn’t go deep, but it spreads out and keeps these massive trees incredibly secure. Meanwhile, a tiny mustard seed is so miniscule that it can easily slip through our fingers. All of which makes what Jesus says in Luke 17:6 so amazing: “He replied, ‘If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it will obey you.’” It is difficult to measure the impact of faith, when placed on the person of Jesus Christ. Prayer, which is faith expressed to the Father, has led to changed lives and transformed communities and nations. It isn’t the size of our faith that matters – it is the size of the God in whom we put our faith. Jesus is telling His people to trust Him. Fully. The God of the universe, who healed the sick, raised the dead, set the prisoner free, forgave and redeemed, is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can think or imagine. Put your faith and confidence fully in Him and you will be able to do far more than move a mulberry tree.
